Cigna OAP HSA
High Deductible Health Plan
The Cigna OAP HSA is a Qualified High Deductible Health Plan (QHDHP) that allows for participation in a Health Savings Account (HSA). Please note, the HSA is a separate benefit plan which you must elect in addition to the QHDHP medical plan.
The medical plan utilizes the Cigna Open Access Plus (OAP) national network of participating in-network providers while allowing the freedom of both in and out-of-network coverage. All services excluding preventive care and some preventative maintenance medications are subject to the deductible which must be met before plan benefits will begin. For an easy to read summary of the plan's benefits and coverage click the Summary of Benefits and Coverage link located in the Resources section below.

Prescription Drug Plan
Participants in the plan automatically participate in the prescription drug plan. You can choose between retail and mail order options. Your prescription benefits are structured to take advantage of the savings associated with generic drugs. With Restricted Generics, you will save the most by choosing generic drugs (when available) versus brand-name drugs. Unless you doctor writes 鈥淒ispense as Written鈥 of DAW on your brand-name drug prescription, you will pay both the non-preferred brand copay plus the cost difference between the generic and brand-name drug.
Health care reform under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) requires plans to cover certain preventive medications and products at 100% or no cost-share ($0) to you. Therefore, select generic prescriptions are available to you at no cost even if you haven't met your deductible. Visit mycigna.com to learn more about how the plan covers preventive medications.
If you are taking maintenance prescription medication, we encourage you to review Express Scripts Pharmacy benefits. Express Scripts Pharmacy is Cigna鈥檚 home delivery pharmacy vendor.
Health Savings Account "HSA" with Bank of America
When you enroll in the OAP HSA (HDHP) medical plan, you are eligible to open a Health Savings Account (HSA). HSA enrollment is not automatic 鈥 you must actively enroll and select a per鈥憄ay鈥憄eriod contribution amount. If you are unsure how much to contribute, you may elect $0 and change your contribution later. The HSA is the only benefit plan that allows contribution changes at any time during the plan year.
An HSA helps you save money by allowing you to pay for qualified health care expenses with tax鈥慺ree dollars. Funds can be used for eligible medical and prescription drug expenses before meeting your deductible, as well as for coinsurance, copayments, and other out鈥憃f鈥憄ocket costs. HSA funds may also be used for eligible dental and vision expenses for you and your tax dependents 鈥 even if they are not enrolled in your medical plan. To be eligible to open and contribute to an HSA, you must be enrolled in an HSA鈥憅ualified health plan and cannot be covered by other non鈥慔SA鈥憅ualified health insurance, including Medicare or a spouse鈥檚 Health Care FSA.
Employer Contribution
Loyola contributes to your HSA, with contribution amounts based on your coverage level. This contribution is deposited as a one鈥憈ime lump sum at the beginning of the benefit plan year. New hires and newly eligible employees who enroll after July 1st will receive a prorated contribution. Contribution amounts are subject to change; please refer to the for the current employer contribution details.
